Hospital wait times are definitely a flaw in the health care system. I had to accompany my brother to the hospital for a dislocated finger and it took 10 hours before my brother, mom and I could return home. I find it ridiculous that people have to wait for long hours in order to see the physician even though it is a very minor injury that takes two seconds to treat. It’s disappointing to know that a lot of money is invested into the health care system but yet wait times remain the same or even long than usual. I understand that money is invested into research but I believe that the money should be equally distributed; therefore improving parts of the health care system step by step.Reference: Irish Health (2008). Is this waiting in the emergency room? I agree, waiting times are ridiculous, and with the amount of effort put in to improve health care, I'd say waiting times is not something they're taking seriously. Yes, research may be equally as important, but think about the urgencies involved in the emergency room, I mean people wish to have their pains treated as soon as possible. Recall the tragedy that happened in NY not too long ago in June, where a woman waited in the hospital for more than 24 hours without recieving help. She ended up dying on the hospital floor and still bystanders just stood and stared. Waiting in the waiting room is a given, I don't mind for waiting for an hour. But when it gets too out of hand, something has to be done about it.

I completely agree with you. I think that wait times are ridiculously long and tedious. This is unnecessary and is not justified in any way, shape or form. As a Canadian citizen, I pay a 13% tax on most of the things I buy so that I can benefit from a better health care system. I feel like my tax dollars are not being used appropriately and the government does not seem to see wait times as a big enough issue for them to address, otherwise this would have been fixed a long time ago. It is called the ‘emergency’ room not the twelve hour wait room. I think it really contradicts what emergency rooms stand for.
